Karen has been working in the field of aging for two decades, serving as primary caregiver for her 94-year-old uncle, providing services to the elderly and their caregivers, and holding management and consulting roles in senior housing development. Previously, Karen served as chief of staff to the Mayor of Cambridge (MA) and was later appointed as Trustee for the Cambridge Health Alliance health care system. She is currently Founder and CEO of Magnolia Prime.

Caring for aging parents is a challenge many face, yet there is no clear path or pattern for how to manage this stage of life. At the CSI/PMP 40th Anniversary Celebration in October 2011, Karen shared her expertise at the nexus between technology and caring for the elderly.
