April 15, 2010 Sarah Soule discusses her research and insights on the environmental movement in the United States, and how states and firms respond to the movement. Her research is distinguished by the fact that she examines activist movements against the business sector and not just against the state or a state entity. In addition Professor Soule studies shareholder-initiated resolutions, membership in environmental organizations such as Sierra Club, and the number of environmental lobbying organizations to determine the power of external influences on policies and actions both inside and outside of the corporate realm.
